استقالة إدوارد ليستر المبعوث البريطاني الخاص لمنطقة الخليج

قال متحدث باسم مكتب رئيس الوزراء البريطاني في بيان عبر البريد الإلكتروني مساء الجمعة، إن إدوارد ليستر المبعوث الخاص لبريطانيا إلى منطقة الخليج سيستقيل من منصبه ويترك الحكومة.

كان ليستر، وهو مساعد مقرب لرئيس الوزراء بوريس جونسون، قد عُين مبعوثا خاصا إلى منطقة الخليج في فبراير، كما شغل منصب كبير الموظفين لفترة مؤقتة قبل ذلك.

ولم يتطرق بيان مكتب رئيس الوزراء إلى سبب رحيل ليستر. غير أن استقالته، التي كشفت عنها أولا صحيفة تلجراف، تأتي بعد أن واجه تدقيقا متزايدا من الصحافة بشأن عمله في القطاع الخاص.

وذكرت تلجراف في وقت سابق أن رحيل ليستر يأتي في وقت يجري فيه التدقيق في صلات المسئولين بالحكومة مع القطاع الخاص.

وقالت الصحيفة إنه عُلم مؤخرا أن ليستر عقد محادثات بشأن عقد مع شركة فينسبري جلوفر هيرينج، وهي شركة علاقات عامة لها مكتبان في الشرق الأوسط.

ولم يتسن الوصول إلى الشركة خارج وقت العمل الاعتيادي.
